Hi guys,

as half of the class was absent today because of presentation on the dangers of tobacco, we played some games together. First, we did 5 rounds of "Guess who with the Stars" and then 2 rounds of Big Challenge questionnaires.

If you want to get prepared for "the Big Challenge" contest, send me your email, and I'll give you access to the special questionnaires I've made for you.

Hi guys,

today we had time to finish making a recap of what you have learned about global warming (solutions).

Here are some of the things you said:

I have already ridden my bike to school and I still do it everyday.

It's important because the less we use a car, the less we pollute.

The more we walk, use our bikes or public transport, the more energy we save.

At the end of the class, each group had to give me one summary with their ideas. Some of you did a great job. Congrats!

Hi guys,

today we worked on the solutions to global warming in your everyday life. You had to work on a mindmap to fill in.

Here is the mindmap with blanks.

Hi guys,

today we first made a recap that you wrote in your copybook about "Quentin" (description in your test).

Then we practised speaking English in pairs. You had to describe a thief to a policeman who had to draw a sketch.

Here are the questions you could ask:

Has he / she got ...?

-> Yes, he / she has.

-> No, he / she hasn't.

Is he / she wearing ...?

-> Yes, he / she is.

-> No, he / she isn't.

Does he / she look like...?

-> Yes, he / she does.

-> No, he / she doesn't.

Then 2 groups of students came to the front of the class and did a presentation.

Finally, we worked on the pronunciation of diphthongs [ai], [ei], ...

Homework:

- être capable de refaire la description du voleur ou de la voleuse de votre fiche. Vous pouvez d'ailleurs remplir le bas de la feuille pour vous aider à bien organiser vos idées et votre description.

Hi,

today we first made a recap of what you had learned about Australia and we began to study other fun facts and also a video about the Aborigines' beliefs and culture.

Here is what you said:

The beliefs of a people:

The Aborigines believed that ancestral spirits in the form of sacred animals like lizards or kangaroos created the land and the people.

Here is the video we watched:

Hi guys,

today we finished watching the extract from the movie "Devil Wears Prada" about Andrea who has a job interview with Miranda, the strict severe and serious boss of "Runway" magazine.

Here is what you said about it:

She is the boss of a fashion magazine "Runway". She is very serious and strict.

During the interview, she is not polite:

* She despises the applicant.

* She criticizes her style.

* She reads newspapers and she doesn't listen to her or look at her. She doesn't care.

* She interrupts her and tells her to leave.

Vocab:

a resume

to pass an interview to fail

Hi guys,

today you had a full hour to train again and record your job interviews (manager and applicant).

I'll try to correct them as soon as possible.

Take care,
Mr Hattais.

Hi guys,

today we first did a quick recap of last time's lesson about "charities". Then we continued with learning new vocabulary and watching a video. You can watch it again below (full version):

Here is what we said:

Global Warming

Causes: Greenhouse gases are the main cause for global warming. They are produced by human consumption (factories, cars, overconsumption, ...).

Consequences: Temperatures have gone up and the Earth has become warmer. Some endangered species have disappeared.

Solutions: We should save energy. For example, we should change lightbulbs or switch off electricity / appliances. We shouldn't drive. We should walk or ride our bikes.

------------

Vocab:

a traffic-jam

CO2 = carbon dioxyde (aïe aïe aïe!)

water pollution

oil

power plants

mass production

factories

deforestation

greenhouse gases

overconsumption

coal

Hi guys,

today we first made a recap of we had learned before about the presidents' pets and how the word "teddy bear" was created from Theodore Roosevelt.

Then we continued the lesson with some riddles, clues and answers about some pets. You had to read a text and guess what pet it was about thanks to some clues.

Finally, you listened to a conversation in class about the pupil's pets. Here is what we wrote:

Sharon's pet is a kangaroo. It has got 2 short legs and 2 long back legs. It's exotic. It comes from Australia.

Julie's pet is a cat. It likes drinking milk and he loves eating fish. It has got 4 legs.

Rob's pet is a fish. It's a very quiet pet. It's exotic and it lives in warm water.

Vocab:

an enigma / a riddle = a clue + a clue + a clue ... = an answer!
