Hi guys,

 

today we started the preparation for "The Biggest Liar Contest" that will take place tomorrow.

You had to invent a crazy story, a lie about something that happened to you.

Tomorrow, you will have to appear as truthful as possible when narrating your story to the class and we will elect "the biggest liar" of all time.

 

Get ready for your fabulous gift!

 

Structures to remember how to use:

---> Le present perfect = introduire votre sujet pour parler de votre expérience extra-ordinaire. Par exemple:

I've already been attacked by a crocodile

I have survived an airplane crash

I have already communicated with the spirit of Michael Jackson

I have already seen a cat kill an orang-utan.


---> Les deux prétérits (BE+ing / Simple) = je faisais cela quand c'est arrivé... =

I was (doing this...) when (it happened). 


---> Le superlatif = pour exaggérer votre conclusion

For example:

It was the biggest spider I have ever seen

It was the most terrifying experience in my life.

Hi, 

 

today we worked on identifying the programme that the friends have built for Colin's party and for his birthday present.


Friday: The friends are preparing the party.

Saturday: Next Saturday, they are going to the party.

Sunday: On Sunday, Harry is working. He is cutting the grass and washing the car of his neighbour.

Monday: On Monday, Harry is paying Sally back.

 

Then we continued the class with the suggestions that Sally makes to find solutions to Harry's money problems.

 

Why don't you buy him a video game? 

What about buying one for two?

I could lend you some.

Let's go to the shop after school.

 

-> Exprime la suggestion. Attention au verbe qui suit qui est soit à l'infinitif soit en -ing.

 

Finally we saw how to write an email with an email template.

today we worked on the notion of future again with the idea of "organizing" something.

Here is what we said:


Organizing = BE + ING / BE GOING TO + V

 

For the party,

-> I'm bringing food and drinks.

-> I'm going to bring food and drinks.

-> I'm gonna bring food and drinks.

- pour vendredi, finir de créer son carton d'invitation pour une soirée d'anniversaire en n'oubliant pas d'indiquer toutes les composantes nécessaires (time, place, theme, people invited, what to bring, the activities, ...).

Hi guys,

 

here is today's lesson in audio version:

 

 

Grammar recap:

- after WHEN = NO FUTURE

-> Dans une subordonnée de temps introduite par WHEN ou AS SOON AS par exemple, le verbe qui suit reste au présent.

 

- will / will be able to / will have to

-> will = exprime le futur

-> be able to = exprime la capacité (will be able to = l'équivalent de CAN mais au futur)

-> have to = exprime l'obligation (will have to = l'équivalent de MUST mais au futur)

- apprendre la leçon (savoir expliquer comment sera l'école dans le futur, ses avantages et ses inconvénients).

Hey,

 

today you had to read a text and speak about the future.

 

New functionality! The teacher reads the lesson for you! How about recording your own voices?

 

-> TV: In the future, we will be able to touch, smell, and taste the objects and the people on TV. Imagine a pot of Nutella that you will be able to try before buying!

 

Vocab: the 5 senses -> touch / smell / taste / hear / see

 

-> Water: If we don't act now, there will be wars for water. People will fight because demands will increase.

 

-> Robots: They will replace people everywhere (teachers, doctors, nurses, blue collars, white collars, ...)

 

Grammar:

will + verb = exprime l'idée de futur

will be able to + verb = "can au futur"

Example: we won't have petrol in the future. -> won't = contraction de will not.

- apprendre la leçon par coeur = savoir parler de ce que pourra être la TV, les problèmes liés à l'eau et à l'emploi.

I'm telling you... the future looks bleak for you if you continue behaving like you have today, not trying to be calm and to understand the content of the lesson...

 

In the 1st part of the hour, we could talk about possibilities in the future:

 

We will be able to ....

Our DNA will determine everything about us.

...

 

But in the 2nd part of the class, you had to answer questions on paper, translate, and copy parts of a text.

Homework:

- être capable de parler du futur et de la société représentée dans l'extrait étudié ensemble (bande-annonce du film "Gattaca"). Vous pouvez regarder la 1ère minute de cet extrait à nouveau et vous préparer à parler correctement de ce que vous avez compris sur ce qu'il sera possible de faire dans le futur grâce à la science d'après ce film.
