Hey guys,

 

today while 3 of you were preparing their story for the biggest liar contest, the other 3 watched the beginning of a movie: "Tangled" with Rapunzel as the lead character.

 

Congratulations to Nadjid who won the 1st prize in the contest!

Homework:

- continuer à parler et écrire anglais est indispensable pour vous cet été! La plupart des élèves de la classe n'a pas atteint le niveau suffisant pour suivre en 3ème...! Faites tout votre possible pour vous remettre à niveau et pensez aux cahiers de vacances: "Anglais: de la 4ème à la 3ème". Ce ne sera pas un luxe que de faire ces exercices pour mettre vos idées au clair en anglais.

today we tried to create a leaflet about your suggestions for next year to your headmaster but as usual, it was difficult to get anything from you...

So only some of you really did the job while others didn't... What a pity...!

- terminer son dépliant. Il sera remis en l'état à la principale qui pourra ainsi juger de votre travail sur la dernière partie de l'année... il est à mon avis, dans votre intérêt de réaliser qqch de propre et bien construit...

today we first worked on how to express a "suggestion" in English and then we started to prepare ideas for a leaflet that we are going to give the head teacher of the middle school.

Hi guys,

 

today we listened again to Harry and Sally, and we completed the lesson.

Here is what we said:

 

             Preparing an event

Friday:

The friends are preparing the party. Sally is lending money to Harry because he is broke. They are buying a video game. They are splitting the money because the gift is expensive.

Saturday:

They are going to the party. They are bringing food (pancakes and jelly) and drinks (soda).

Sunday:

Harry is working for his neighbour. He is cutting the grass and washing his car.

Monday:

Harry will be able to pay Sally back.

 

 

 

Grammar: une autre façon d'exprimer le futur.

BE (au présent) + V-ing

-> l'événement est programmé, prévu, inscrit dans un agenda par exemple.

Hey,

 

today we first had to make a recap of what you had said about the future of school and then we continued the lesson with trying to organize a party about the future.

 

We listened to a document for you to get vocabulary. Here is what you said:

 

The two friends are going to Colin's party.

Sally is bringing jelly and soda (food and drinks).

Harry is bringing pancakes.

 

 

Additional vocab:

- split

- a present / a gift

- I'm broke! = I don't have money.

- it's too expensive!

Hi guys,

 

today we listened to an audio recording, a radio interview with a futurologist about school in the future. Here is what you said:

 

In the future, we won't go to school.

Students will learn from home.

They will connect to the internet to get their lessons.

As soon as they have a question, they will be able to contact a teacher. Lessons will be more individual, more adapted.

Pupils will be able to learn when they want to. They will be able to sleep in the morning for example.

 

Grammar:

will not -> won't

will be able to -> CAN au futur

AFTER WHEN = NO FUTURE

Hi guys,

 

today we worked on a text (p. 105 in your books) about the future.

You had to find the ideas corresponding to the future of :

- television

- water

- technology

 

You talked about having television in 5D where you could of course watch and hear sounds but also taste, touch, and smell the movie... Unbelievable!

today we first did a recap of what you had to know about the lesson and then we continued with the trailer from the movie "Gattaca". You had to fill in the blanks and also practise your pronunciation as if you were the man in the trailer commenting on the action.

Hi guys,

 

today we continued talking about the future and what we could do if we had 6 fingers... like in the picture.

With 6 fingers:

We will be able to type faster on the computer.
We
will be able to play the piano better.
We
will be able to scratch our backs more easily.

...

 

Then we watched the trailer from the movie "Gattaca". Here is what you said about what you understood from the story:

 

Gattaca is a science-fiction movie.

Society will be controlled by DNA.

For example, we will be able to pass a job interview with our blood, saliva, or hair.

Our DNA will determine everything about us:

  - where we should work

  - who we should marry

When the technology exists, we  will be able to choose the physical and mental characteristics of our children. We  will be able to choose the colour of their eyes and skin for example.

 

Cars will drive faster, buildings will be higher and screens will be larger.
