today we finished studying the text about Miles Morales, the new Spiderman.

 

Here is what we said about it (comparing him with Peter Parker):

 

Miles Morales (the new Spiderman):
- He is half-black and half-latino.
- He could be gay; we don't know for the moment.
- He can paralyze people with his hands.

Vs

Peter Parker (the "old" Spiderman):
- He's white geek / nerd.
- He is in love with Sally and Mary Jane => He loves women. He's straight.

Similarities:

They both wear a costume / suit. They have the same outfit with a webbed mask. Like the old Spiderman M.M fights for justice. He's a hero with a lot of responsabilitity. They have the same powers: they have an extraordinary strength and agility; and they can shoot webs and climb walls.




Contrasts:

- Unlike P.P who is a white geek, M.M is a half-black half-latino teenager.
- Contrary to P.P who is straight, M.M could be gay.
- Unlike P.P, M.M can paralyze people.

 

HW:

- apprendre la leçon (mardi) et préparez les fiches pour le classeur (mercredi)

Hey guys,

 

today we first corrected the phonetic symbols chart and we saw that not everyone heard the same sounds at first. It's only by practising that you will make the difference (listening and speaking).

 

Then I explained to you exactly what I expected from you for your binders with the different sections. I am aware that it may seem to be a lot of work but it will really help you to learn better and remember better. What's more, you will use the same method until your senior year in high school; so it's very important you learn now. 

 

Finally, we began to read a text about the new Spiderman. You were all surprised when you read: "he may be gay in the future"... we'll talk about it next time.

 


 

HW:

- lire le texte en entier et souligner les informations essentielles que vous comprenez sur le portrait de ce nouveau super héros (quelles sont les différences et les similitudes avec l'ancien Spiderman).

- si vous n'avez pas bien compris le système de fiches que je vous ai demandé de faire, faites-en une pour vendredi et je vous dirai si vous êtes sur la bonne voie ou s'il faut rectifier des choses avant que vous ne terminiez votre classeur.

- pour mercredi 7/12/11: vous devrez être capable de me présenter un classeur complet avec tous les intercalaires (7), la leçon travaillée en marge (+couleurs et surlignage) et les fiches faites (lesson, vocabulary, grammar, methodology, phonetics, culture, tests and correction).

today was the last lesson before your test so we made sure the lesson was understood by everyone. We first worked on how to narrate the 2nd page of the comic book and here is what we wrote:

Finally, we continued the class with some revision about phonetics. Here are the basic words you need to know and associate with a symbol:

 

"to be written by Mounir"

 

HW:

- pour vendredi, révisez pour le test. Faites-vous des fiches et soyez prêt à parler de la leçon (cf. textes / images étudiées), vocabulaire, ... = réfléchir aux critères donnés en classe et vérifier que l'on sait faire ce qui est nécessaire pour remplir la tâche demandée.

- pour mardi, trouvez pour chaque symbole phonétique 3 mots que vous connaissez bien et qui peuvent rentrer dans le tableau.

Hey,

 

today I really got annoyed once more when nobody volunteered to speak about the lesson even if I had given you some time to go over your notes again. Then when I saw that some of you hadn't done their homework (or forgotten it...), it was the last straw on the camel's back; some of you were "granted" an hour of detention next week. I'll make sure your family and everyone at school knows about it...

 

However, we finally managed to move on with the lesson and particularly with the description of the 1st panel from the 2nd page in your documents. 

Here is what we wrote:

HW:

- apprenez vos leçons (y compris celle de la dernière fois) pour être capable de parler sans problème en début d'heure.

- préparez-vous au test de Vendredi sur la séquence.

today you REALLY PISSED ME OFF not saying a word and as a consequence you got more homework to do than expected... I'm warning you one last time: I'm not talking and working for you. So get moving!

 

Eventually, we managed to analyse the first picture of the page and narrate the story in the first page.

HW: Pour vendredi -

- Selon votre groupe (1 ou 2) vous vous concentrerez sur la page 1 (groupe 1) ou 2 (groupe 2) du comic book. Vous devrez dans un 1er temps, décrire la 1ère vignette de la page qui vous concerne et dans un 2ème temps, raconter l'histoire et les évéments qui se déroule dans cette page.

- Vous devrez corriger et rendre une version propre de l'affiche "Your personal Super Hero" que nous afficherons en classe avec comme objectif d'organiser un grand combat de Super Heroes! Le format de cette affiche DOIT être le même pour tout le monde. Merci de respecter les consignes pour faciliter le travail de tous.

Hey guys,

 

today you first took a mime test about the vocabulary "accessoories and weapons". I hope you did good. I will give you your grades asap.

 

Then we corrected some sentences that you had made to express similarities and differences thanks to the chart we had drawn last time. Here are the sentences that we made:
