Hey guys,
today after making fun of my sexy voice, we continued the class with the analysis of a WWII propaganda poster aimed at women. Some of you made pretty good comments. Bravo! Here is what we finally said briefly:
I - The document is a placard / an ad campaign which probably dates back from WWII.
It may have been created by an American designer / adman because the style makes me think of a comic strip.
D - It features/depicts/represents/ a woman in the foreground who is wearing farmer's clothes.
She is standing with a fork. She's preparing herself to go to work in the fields which are in the background.
She looks " happy" and pleased to work.
A - This ideal picture gives up the impression that everything is perfect and that nothing wrong will happen. This campaign was created to attract women to do men's jobs when the soldiers were at war.
It's a propaganda poster.
H - Indeed, during the war, women were asked to remplace men so that economy could go on. It was called the "war effort".
