Hi guys,
today we first warmed up with a news report from the website Reuters about the new Danish law (fat tax). You can watch the report below:
Here is what we said about it:
Warm up: News Report in Denmark
The Danish government has decided to make fatty foods more expensive.
Products that contain more than 2.3% saturated fat are concerned.
It’s the first nation in the world to do so in order to combat obesity.
If taxes are higher (like for cigarette, alcohol, or gas) people will cut down on consuming them.
Cigarettes and alcohol -> It dangerous for your health too and addictive.
Gas -> it dangerous for the planet (cf. climate change)
Then we continued speaking about the text: "Junk Food Heaven" and we tried to understand why it was funny and humourous (types of humour).
Here is what we said about it:
Junk food heaven
The tone of the text = funny / humorous
Examples from the text:
.....
This is an example of exaggeration.
She looked at the box and said “no” –> The wife reacts nastily. The husband reacts like a child.
”I beg your pardon, my sweet" -> The husband fakes innocence.
They are examples of situational comedy.
