Correction of your tests + start of the new sequence

http://art4collectors.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/duane_hanson_tourists_2.jpgHey,

today I first gave you your tests back and I let you correct them with my help if necessary. I hope that you've understood how you can improve your written productions.

Then we started a new sequence (#2) entitled: "Stereotypes". We began to speak about the two statues by Duane Hanson, an American artist. Here is what we said about his work of art:

At first sight, the two statues look so realistic that we can think they are real people. But when you look at them closely, their skin looks like plastic or wax.Their complexion is strange/ bizarre / odd/ weird. They correspond to the stereotypical vision of American or German people. Indeed, they are wearing caps and we think that Americans wear caps all the time because they are said to love baseball. The man is wearing white socks up his calves and the couple's look is old-fashioned.

Additional vocabulary from this lesson:

old-fashioned
fashionable
trendy

a calf / two calves : un mollet (2)

http://art4collectors.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/duane_hanson_queenie_2.jpgHW: Find 5 stereotypes about Canadians + learn the lesson and make some research about "Hyper Realism".

Learn more about Duane Hanson and hyper realism here.

Visit La Villette's website and particularly the "audio guide" part where you can listen to the audio tour of the museum in English too! Click here.
