Translation Techniques

Hey,

today we first warmed up with some gossips. Here is what we said:

In the US, everybody talks about Eva L. and Tony P.'s divorce. Eva has found a text message from one of Tony's colleague's wife and it proves he has cheated on her. She now wants a divorce.

In the UK, everybody talks about William and Kate's official engagement. The pb is that Kate doesn't have royal blood. She doesn't belong to aristocracy. She is just "middle-class".

Then we continued the class with the rest of the translation.  

Here are some tips I gave for a better translation:

- Etoffement + changement de la nature du mot.
- Rajouter des gap fillers (ex: "euh...", "enfin...")
- Penser au contexte et à des expressions idiomatiques dans lesquelles le mot est utilisé.

"to be written by Thomas"
