The Tourists + I am Canadian

Hey guys,

today we first made a quick recap of what could be said about the picture of the two tourists from last time. Here is what we wrote in the copy books:

The tourists = the way they look / what they are wearing

Man = a cap, sunglasses, shirt (flowery, not trendy, not fashionable), skin color (he is suntanned), bag, camera, watch (time difference), shorts, white socks and sport shoes (trainers, sneakers).

Woman = head band, make-up (lipstick), triple chin => like to test the local cuisine, sunburnt, not trendy, old-fashioned (70's), outdated flashy vivid colors (blue, red, yellow), flip flops.

The colours don't match, the clothes don't fit.

-> Ideas of stereotypical American tourists.

American stereotypes:

Americans are said to be fat

German stereotypes:

Germans are believed to be not very trendy

Of course, this is not true for everybody = it depends on many criteria.

These are stereotypes / clichés / preconceived ideas.

Then we continued our study of stereotypes, focusing our attention on Canadian people. Here is the video we watched:

And here is what we wrote for the lesson:

Canadian stereotypes: I am Canadian (video)

Canadians are said to love hockey

Canadian are believed to be woodcutters / lumberjacks

They are thought to love snow

They are believed to have a redneck accent and a strange pronunciation.

HW:

- apprendre la leçon, les structures vues en cours, et le nouveau vocabulaire (faire des fiches).
