English Day by Day is designed for school students to improve their performance in the English language.
Hello guys,
today we talked about the Obama family again and lots of you remembered a lot of things about Sasha and Malia! Congratulations!
Here is what we wrote today in your copybook and vocabulary book:
Demander un mot en anglais:
"How do you say ................. in English?"
Birthday:
Malia Obama was born on the 4th of July.
She was born on Independence Day.
-> When were YOU born?
I was born on the ...... of ......
Months:
January / February / March / April / May / June / July / August / September / October / November / December
Day:
1st / 2nd / 3rd -> Attention les nombres avec "one" / "two" / "three" sont irréguliers quand on parle d'une date =
1 -> one -> first
2 -> two -> second
3 -> three -> third
L'abbréviation fait apparaître les deux dernières lettres de chaque mot. C'est facile! :)
La forme régulière est la marque "th" à ajouter. Il faut juste faire attention à "five" qui subit une modification orthographique et phonétique.
4 -> four -> fourth
5 -> five -> fifth (quand on ajoute quelque chose à "five", il devient "fif..." comme dans "fifteen" [15] ou "fifty" [50] également)
11th / 12th / 13th ... (ces chiffres contiennent les chiffres 1 / 2 / 3 mais pas "one", "two", "three", ils sont donc réguliers).
20th (modification orthographique - 20 -> twenty -> twentieth)
21st / 22nd / 23rd ...
24th / 25th ...
31st ...
