The Gold Rush - 2 - A deeper analysis

Hey,

today after taking your regular irregular verb test, we continued speaking about the gold rush and we nearly finished analysing the audio document. Here is what we added about it:

Gold Rush => People, dates, facts, places

People came to San Francisco to find gold / to strike it rich from the South, the North and the East, i.e. from everywhere. 

It started in 1848 when a man, John Marshall, found a gold nugget in a river near a mill called Sutter's Mill. The first people / gold diggers arrived slowly and then, the gold fever really developed... : 

          - ... when the word / the news spread that there was gold in rivers

          - ... when rumor had it that there was gold in rivers.

HW: for next time, you need to write a definition of the phrase "gold rush" as we could read in an encyclopædia (80-100 words)
