Recap + Family Portrait (follow-up)

Hey,

today you really didn't behave properly... You should be ashamed to act like 5th graders and not like seniors in highschool...

Whatever...

So, we first did a quick recap of the previous lesson and added some vocabulary to be remembered. Here it is: 

"to be written by Marie-Sophie"

Then we continued the lesson with the song by Pink and here is what we wrote (presentation of the song):

This song is entitled "Family Portrait"; It is sung by P!nk. It deals with a split / broken up family. The tone is melancholy because of both the rhythm (which is slow) and the violin. The singer is crying because she is in pain / in sorrow.

 

Finally, we worked on how to express constraint in English with the structure "want ... to". Here are the sentences we made speaking about the song:

The singer wants her mother to stop crying.
She wants her family to be happy again.
She doesn't want divorce to destroy her family.
She doesn't want her parents to fight.
She wants her dad to stop making her mother cry.

She doesn't want to go back home. (pas de pression sur qqn d'autre mais sur elle-même)

Here are the sentences that we translated from French into English:

*EXERCER UNE PRESSION SUR QUELQUE CHOSE OU SUR QUELQU'UN:

- I want you to behave correctly.
- The teacher doesn't want the pupils to speak French in class.
- The teacher doesn't want the students to look by the window.

- My father always wants to be right. (pas de pression sur qqn d'autre mais sur lui-même)

HW: for next time, you need to know your lesson by heart (new voc + structures).
