Genetics - Gattaca trailer + text

Hey,

today we first warmed up with this sentence: 

"I have 24 cats at home..."

Here is what you can say to react to this statement:

"What...?
You must be crazy / mad / insane / nuts
You must be kidding / joking / pulling my leg"

Then we continued speaking about genetics and we started to study Gattaca's trailer. Here is what we said about it and  about the plot of the movie:

The document is about an experiment. It deals with genetics / genetic engineering. The scientists are going to choose the genes of the child to make a better child. They are going to select both the mental and physical characteristics of a person. With a syringe, the scientists plan on injecting modified DNA into the embryo.

Gattaca is both a science fiction movie and a thriller. The sound track of the trailer goes fast an stops suddenly / abruptly. In the movie, science determines everything.

You can't choose anymore. You are determined by your genes. There are no longer job interviews but just a finger print and a blood test. Studies, skills and experience are not important any more.
Science also determines who you should marry and what you can do.

Finally, we started to speak about the text. Here is what we said about it: 

Who: there are 4 characters (the geneticist, Maria, Antonio and Vincent - a toddler)
Where: the scene takes place at the geneticist's lab / laboratory
What: They are having a meeting about their future child. They want to have another son.
How: Antonio and Maria are doubtful. They think the scientists has selected too many options for their child. He has implanted more characteristics than they wanted. They want to leave a few things to chance.

HW: for next week, you need to prepare "jeopardy" about the beginning of the text, i.e prepare answers for which only one question can be asked. (5 items)
