Illegal Downloading / File Sharing + Timeline & Crime Scene

Hi guys,

today we first listened to an audio recoring (a news report) about illegal downloading. You can listen to it again below:

Here is what we said about it (+ grammar rule about suffixes):

Warm up: Illegal downloading/ Filesharing

The document is a radio news reportabout illegal downloading. It deals with a meetingin London between the British government and famous artists such as Pink Floyd or Lilly Allen in order to find a solution to the problem.

The hackerswill receive two warnings(1 e-mail, 1 letter) before their connexion is stopped. Then they'll have to pay a fine. Finally, they may go to prison/jail.

Grammar:

Le suffixe -ing transforme un verbe en nom, exemples:

load -> charger

downloading -> le (télé)chargement

meet -> rencontrer

meeting -> rencontre/réunion

warn -> prévenir, avertir

warning -> avertissement

share -> partager

(file) sharing -> le partage (de dossiers)

Then we continued the lesson with the correction for the timeline of events the day of the murder. Here all the elements mentionned with their approximate time:

Lesson:

The crime scene:

The governor is lying dead in a puddle of blood on the carpet of his study where he worked

The crime weapon:

He must have been stabbed since there blood.

Hemay have been shot but with silencer or a pillow since the maid didn't hear a noise. He can't have been strangled or poisoned.

The time of death:

7:30 -> a visitor arrived for a meeting

8:00 -> the maid heard the door close, the visitor left

9:00 -> she made a last round of the house, she discovered the body. She called the police.

Motives:

On line 13, Inez says «I can't say he was a kind man [...]» ->she hated him.

Robert Cole Kelner was a political enemy for Samuel Mason and Jim Shepard.

Finally, here is a picture of what the crime could look like (drawn by Sarah D.):
