Correction of your dialogues and end of the text

Hey,

today we first had a look at a possible correction for your dialogues. You can download it again here:

Then we continued speaking about the text and we finished commenting on it. Here is what we said:

==> The author uses colloquial language to establish some bond with the readers.

Cf.
"The others were peering as if I was about get the joke."
"I felt as if I was in the middle of a surrealist film."
Normally, you should say "as if I were..." (= prétérit modal)

"chums *" (= des potes*)

"I mean, I had to tell them".
I mean / you know = pas de sens réel pour ces mots. Il s'agit de mots insérés dans le dialogue pour plus de fluidité. On les appelle des "gap fillers" en anglais. Ils donnent à l'énonciateur du temps supplémentaire pour réfléchir à ce qu'il va dire et à comment il va le formuler.

Additional vocabulary:
- flabbergasted = extremely surprised
- lost / puzzled = qualifies someone who doesn't understand
