Vincent's presentation + test

Hey,

today Vincent had the privilege to be the first one to speak in front of the class about a picture, like for the A-Levels at then end of the year. He did a rather good job and can be proud of himself. Here is a copy of the picture he studied:

Here is the commentary that he made: it should be developped but it's already a good start. 

 
This document is a cartoon in black and white and it's illustrated by an unknown artist. The document doesn't mention the source but it may have been published in a newspaper for students since the picture aims at students and parents.

This document deals with school uniforms. It represents four characters who agree about school uniforms. It sucks! In the picture, there are four teenagers who look like goths: they have special haircuts with piercings in the nose and ears and very long t-shirts with leather jackets and plaid pants. The four teenagers are also wearing necklaces. I think they are golden chains.

They are saying:

"We are like totally opposed to school uniforms"
"... yeah"
"what're you tryin' to do?"
"rob us our individuality"

The discussion is ironic because they are opposed to school uniforms while they have the same special look. It's the reason why he says: "rob us of our individuality"; because for them, to wear a uniform is against one's freedom. And yet, the way they are dressed looks like a uniform.

The message of the author is obvious. It's that school uniforms rob the personality of students because the school makes them wear a uniform even if they don't like it. However, it's also ironic because the cartoonist mocks some teenagers who think they are rebels but behave like sheep and follow a trend.

I think schools agree with the idea of wearing a uniform because when the pupils wear one, they seem to respect the school more; it's a form of authority.
As far as I'm concerned, school uniforms are a good idea because when the students have a school uniform, there isn't jealousy between them like in the schools in England.
