The road signs and the cartoon

Hi guys,

today we talked about road safety a little bit and I tested you to know if you were going to be careful drivers. I presented you a set of road signs and you had to determine their meanings and if they existed in France or not.

Here is what we said about the shapes and the meanings of these road signs:

The road signs: a universal language

The triangle shape means warning.

For instance, it means that you have to give way at the next crossing.

It means that there is a possible danger (you should watch out for cattle or wild animals [deers] or a sharp bend in the road).

= the circle shape means something is mandatory. It’s an obligation.

= the square shape means it’s a piece of information (NB: jamais de "s" à information qui est non-comptable = 2 pieces of information).

Phonology (accent tonique et réalisation du schwa [ə]):

'Culture ; cui'sine ; 'leisure ; enter'tainement ; 'gorgeous ; 'problem ; dis'crepency

Then we continued talking about this document:

We noted the discrepancy / difference between reality and the cartoon and it produces humour. We also worked about methodology and reviewed some important vocabulary words about attitudes (cf. over-exited, (to) stomp, ...).
