"The Big Challenge" + The Terminal (there is / there are)

today I first talked to you about "The Big Challenge" which is school contest in English.

Then we continued the lesson about "customs" and we wrote it in the copybooks:

The Terminal (movie extract)

WHERE?

The scene takes place in the USA at the customs desk.
→ There are American flags.

WHO?

There are four customs officers:
- there are two males / men
- there are females / women -> pas de "s" à "men" ou "women" car ce sont déjà des pluriels irréguliers.

There are four visitors:
- there is one businessman
- there are three female tourists.

Grammar:

- there is / there are = sert à présenter une ou plusieurs choses; à dire: "il y a... (1 ou plusieurs choses ou personnes).

Phonetics:

- women = [i] [i]
