Surprise and correction of your tests

Today,

we first warmed up about how to express surprise in English and here is what we said about it:

Warm up: "My cat has 6 legs!" - How to express surprise!

- I can't believe you
- It's impossible! = It can't be!
- You must be lying
- You must be teasing us!
- You must be kidding us!
- You must be joking!
- You must be pulling our legs!
- I can't believe my ears
- It's so strange! -> How strange it is! -> You can't imagine how strange it is!

Then we corrected your exercise for today about surprise. Here is the correction:

I/
1) - She was so pleased!
     - How pleased she was!
     - You can't imagine how pleased she was!

2) - How terrible the strom was!
     - You can't imagine how terrible the strom was!

3) - How hypocritical he is!
     - You can't imagine how hypocritical he is!

4) - How ridiculous he looked!
     - You can't imagine how ridiculous he looked!

5) - The village is so quiet
     - How quiet the village is!
     - You can't imagine how quiet the village is!

Then, I gave you some pieces of advice to help you correct your written expressions (grammar, and vocabulary tips). Here is what you wrote:

Grammaire: Verbes d'état: Be/ think / look /seem ...
Au présent: une seule option = Présent Simple.
ex: He looks stupid.

Grammaire: Have -> I don't have (outil de négattion) a cat -- I have a dog

Grammaire / Structure: WANT ... TO + V
I want to go to the US next year but I don't to go alone.
I want Giuly to go to the US with me.

Remember : le deuxième sujet, celui sur lequel on exerce une pression est entre WANT et TO, il est coincé dans l'étau WANT... TO

Vocabulaire:
Attention au verbe "look" qui ne veut pas dire la même chose en fonction des post-positions que l'on peut lui adjoindre:

look > paraître
look at > regarder
look like > ressembler
...

make fun of -> laugh at / tease/ kid/ ...
take (one's) revenge - I took my revenge
cut (one's) hair - He cut his hair

Finally, you were given a correction for the written expression exercises. Thanks to Aya, Charlène, and Juliette for their good jobs.
