Rules at school in the 19th century

Hi everyone,

today we worked on a set of rules in the 19th century. We rephrased them to talk about obligations and interdictions.

Here is what we said:

Obligations:

- Boys and girls had to walk in separate lines.

- Girls had to enter and leave the room before the boys.

- A polite boy had to remove his cap when meeting a lady.

- Children had to sit up straight at all times.

- A girl had to wear a long dress / skirt.

- Children had to write with the right hand.

Interdictions:

- A girl was not allowed to show a bare ankle. -> BE not allowed to...

- Children were forbidden to write using their left hand. -> BE forbidden to...

NB: HAD TO + base verbale = L'OBLIGATION AU PASSé.

Homework:

- apprendre la leçon sur les règles à l'école au 19ème siècle.

- être capable d'opposer ces règles si elles sont différentes de celles d'aujourd'hui.

- se préparer pour le test final de Jeudi (grammaire et leçon).
