English Day by Day is designed for school students to improve their performance in the English language.
Hey,
today we first warmed up with what we could say about the difficult conditions that we have been facing for some days now. Here is what we said:
Negative points:
- People have slept in their cars; they are exhausted.
- People have left their cars to go a hotel for the night
- People have been hurt
- People have fallen / slipped on ice
- Every transport in Northern Europe have stopped working. The situation has been critical / chaotic. = It has been a chaos / havoc.
Positive points:
- The landscapes are more beautiful
- Children can make snowmen
Grammar! - Utiliser le present perfect pour exprimer un bilan, les conséquences de qqch:
- HAVE / HAS + p. passé (régulier = V-ed; irrégulier = à apprendre)
Then we continued to speak about the snow with an audio document. You can watch the report again below:
Here is what said about this document:
"to be written by Vincent"
Voc:
- a news report
- flight cancellation
- (train) delays
Finally, we concluded the class with some brief comments about your mock exam text. Here is the important vocabulary that you need to remember from the text and from your comments:
"to be written by Vincent"
HW: for next time, you need to prepare an oral commentary about what you understand from the text (who, where, when, what is happening, how do the characters react and why, ...?). Get ready to talk at the beginning of the class.
