English Day by Day is designed for school students to improve their performance in the English language.
Hi guys,
today Robin first did his presentation of the country highlighting both the positive and negative aspects in the country. Here are the notes that you took:
On the one hand...:
+:- Rich, dense environment = Fauna and flora / Natural resources
- An idea of a very rich culture (art, cinema, religion, food, ...) : love dance, songs, magicians, flashy color, Bollywood, many religions and languages, spicy food...
- Rapid economic development -> life expectancy has risen rapidly, better health, sanitation, and literacy.
- = a developing country
But on the other hand...:
-: - Poverty VS Wealth (over population / Sanitation pb/ access to water/ endangered species = cf. Bengali tiger)
- Slums / Shanty towns
- India is densely populated:1,15 billion --> 60%: urban areas (problem to find a job ?)
- Difficult living conditions : - 35% live with less than $1 a day
- Malnourishment
Vocabulary & pronunciation: Heaven, 'hinduism, 'buddhism, dance, behave = to have an attitude, capital city, Finally
Then we continued the lesson with the study of p. 51 from your books for those who had their books and for those who didn't, I gave them a set of 2 documents to analyse in pairs.
