Module : Travelling abroad + questions in "How... ?"

Today we first warmed up a little with some chit chat about travelling abroad and here is what we said:

If I had a chance, I would travel to South Korea in the winter holidays. But as I don't have a job, I don't earn money and the tickets are expensive. I need a good bargain!
If I had a chance, I would go skiing in the Jura with some friends.

Remember: IF (S+V-prétérit) ... , (S) WOULD + V

Then, we spoke about questions in "HOW ... ?" and you had to ask me personal questions. Each correct question was rewarded with a smiley bonus!
You should speak as much even if there is no smiley in the game! Isn't it more entertaining and fun this way?

Here is what you wrote in your grid concerning questions in "how...?":

1 - Demander une information sur une caractéristique particulière:

HOW + Adjectif / Adverbe définissant la caractéristique + aux + V + sujet

How old ... : l'âge
How often ... : la fréquence
How much ... : le prix
How long ... : la durée
How far / How near (rare) ... : la distance
How fast ... / How quick ... : la vitesse
How heavy ... / How light (rare) : le poids

2 - Demander une information sur une dimension:

How tall ... / How big ... : la grandeur, la taille (pour une personne plus que pour une chose)
How high ... : la hauteur (pour une chose)
How long ... : la longueur
How large ... / How wide ... : la largeur
How deep ... : la profondeur
How thick ... : l'épaisseur

3 - Noms dérivés d'adjectifs:

strong → strength ; long → length ; wide → width ; deep → depth
thick → thickness

See you next time!
Until then, take care!

M. Hattais.
