English Day by Day is designed for school students to improve their performance in the English language.
Hi guys,
today we worked on the end of MLK day.
First we worked on the definition of a hero by saying what a hero was or had.
Here are some elements you said:
To be a hero, you have to...:
- do something good
- save people
- have power(s)
- do something extraordinary
...
For instance you said about Martin Luther King Junior:
"He was a hero because he did something good. He saved the black community. He had the power to make things change. He did something extraodinary: he ended segregation."
About Rihanna:
"She is just a singer. She is not a hero."
About Henry VIII:
"He did something extraordinary. He killed 2 of his wives but he didn't do something good... he is not a hero."
Second, we watched the biography of MLK again and you had to reorder the elements. This will help you for your oral presentation next time.
Finally, we worked on the song "I have a dream". You had to understand the meaning and then fill in the missing lyrics.
