today we first corrected your homework exercise about as if / as though. Here is the correction:

1- The French / French people are believed to speak English very poorly as if / as though they never learned /learnt foreign languages.

2- Americans are thought to be fat and lazy as if / as though it were the case for all of them.

3- Canadians are said to be close to nature and peaceful as if / as though they were all hippies living in the forest.

 

Then we continued talking about our new document: the picture of the stereotypical Frenchman. Here is what we said:

The document is a caricature of a French cook. He is smoking and crossing his hands. He's wearing a beret. He has a moustache and a big nose. He looks very strange because his eyes are bizarre / weird. One of his eyebrows is a higher than the other. It gives him a nasty look. He looks like he is tipsy / he has drunk. He also looks over-confident. He is probably looking at the customers in his restaurant and he is thinking he will earn a lot of money.

HW:

- For Monday Nov. 22nd: you need to make sentences (5 to 10) expressing the French clichés that are evoked thanks to this caricature.

- For Tuesday Nov. 23rd, you need to turn in this dialogue. Here reads the assignment:

"You are in Canada and you see a group of teenagers who are making fun of a lumberjack". Write the scene and conversation. (250-300 words)
