today we first worked on the second part of the audio document as a warm up and here is what we said about it: For all the characters, highschool was a positive experience. They made friends; they became really close friends. However, one of the characters thought highschool would never end. He thought it was too long / extensive.
Then we continued working with a short recap of what we had said in the previous lessons about the differences between French and American highschool and you had to say which system you prefered.
Finally, we commented on the pictures p. 116. The question was how you could associate the two pictures together. What is the relationship between the picture at the top and the picture at the bottom?

What is the relationship between the two pictures?
I think the people in the picture at the top come from the slums / shacks. In the picture at the bottom, I can see houses in wood, they are made of scrap metal and 2nd-hand material. The windows are broken / shattered. The houses are in a bad state. They are dilapidated.
Interpretation:
I think that these pictures show that there are inequalities and that it is more difficult for poor children to succeed / acheive at school. However, I think we all have the samebrains...
