English Day by Day is designed for school students to improve their performance in the English language.
Hey,
today we first warmed up about the freezing weather. Here is what we said:
I'm cold / freezing.
It's freezing cold.
It's cold enough to freeze off witches' tits.
Then we continued speaking about the document we had begun to study last time.
You can listen to it again here:
Here is what we said about it:
The document deals with weight problems. Rich countries have an important obesity level. Young children are more and more overweight because of unhealthy food. In America two thirds of adults are obese while 15 per cent of children are overweight.
Food producers and TV programmes put pressure on the children. They make parents buy biscuits or they make them go to McDonal's.
Last year, food producers were blamed for / accused of making them have health concerns.(heart condition, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure)
Some parents filed a lawsuit against mcdonald's.
Consequently, TV producers and food producers will stop advertising high calorie products in programmes aimed at young viewers.
NB: Make sb do sth ... = forcer qqn à faire qqch (pression)
HW: you need to translate these sentences into English =
"Tous les dimanche, mon père me fait laver la voiture et ma mère me fait manger du chat. Je n'en peux plus!"
