Correction for the webquest about Australia + Writing Workshop

Hi guys,

today I had to struggle so that you decided to work... however this was made impossible because of so many of you... this is absolutely unacceptable...

During the 1st hour, we corrected the webquest and saw how to use the superlative. Here is what we wrote:

- the most successful Queen of the UK was Victoria as she conquered the world.

- the oldest people in Australia are the Aborigines.

- the 2nd biggest rock on Earth is Ayers Rock. It's 318 meters high, the size of a 10-story-building.

- the largest coral reef in the world is the Great Barrier Reef.

- the most important animals in Australia are: the koala, the kangaroo, the wombat, ...

- the most broadly spoken language is English but there is no official language.

- the largest city is Sydney but it's not the capital city.

Pour construire le superlatif ( = élire qqn ou qqch en le mettant sur un podium, comme un classement = dire "le plus..." , "la plus..." , "les plus..."):

-> the + adjectif court + (e)st (ne doit pas dépasser 2 syllables lorsqu'on lui ajoute la terminaison).

-> the + most + adjectif long

Then in the second part of the class, we continued the lesson with a writing workshop. You first had to identify the different parts of Kathryn's story and then write your own guide lines with:

1- initial situation (who / where / when):

koala - lizard / in the Australian desert, the outback / "a long time ago, during the Dreamtime, ..."

2- problem: 

the sun / it's too hot for the koala.

3- help: 

an intelligent idea from the lizard / the lizard's intelligence.

4- resolution of the problem:

the lizard transforms into a tree. He can proft from the sun and the koala from the shadow.

5- conclusion:

the first tree was created.

Finally, you had to create your own guidelines for your story.

- Votre histoire doit être terminée et les différents éléments de vos dessins correctement finalisés.
