Bill Bryson's buying junk food... what about his wife?

http://www.merseycare.nhs.uk/Library/What_we_do/Corporate_Services/Catering/eatwellplatelarge.jpgHey guys,

today we made a quick recap of what we had said about the definition for junk food and we completed it. Here is what we said:

Eating too much junk food may lead to health problems such as:

- diabetes
- high blood pressure
- difficult pregnancy
- cholesterol
You should cut down on eating junk food and you ought to have a balanced diet.

Then we read the extract from "Notes from a big Country" entitled "Junk Food Heaven" and you had to find out whether the ingredients and food items mentionned in the text were healthy or unhealthy and discuss why.

Here is the chart we drew and the "remember" section:

Healthy
Ryvita (a special type of Swedish brown bread)
muesli
Milk (watch out! it depends if it is skimmed / low-fat or not )
broccoli
melons
mushrooms
Unhealthy
pizza
bacon
cheese
cookies
pancakes
cereals
peanut butter crunch
chocolate

Remember: If an ingredient is high in fat, sugar or starch and low in nutrients (proteins, calcium, vitamins,...), it is unhealthy.
