http://blog.ineance.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/golden-gate-bridge.jpgHey,

today you first had to report about the different trips you were advised to take in the US. It was a complete disaster as you had not prepared your homework correctly!

SHAME ON YOU!

Here are the notes concerning the different journeys:

"to be written by Florian"

Then we continued the lesson with listening to a new document about San Francisco:

Here is what you could say about it:

The document is about San Francisco. A woman is speaking about the activities you can do when you are in San Francisco, if you are interested in history and culture / relaxing / visiting monuments / sightseeing:

You can go to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Other possible activities:
- Cable cars
- Shopping
- Golden Gate park

Vocabulary:
- A historic landmark

- A monument
- A sight

HW: for next time, agencies have to create a poster of the dream trip to the US for $200 max. They will have to present this poster to the class and explain why it's the best.

+ the riddles worksheet to complete + learn your lesson (recap and vocabulary).

Files: Download the Riddles here.

full us mapHey,

today after making a quick review of your favorite activities during the holidays and identifying your "tourist profile", you had to perform a role play where you were tourists and travel agents / clerks. You had to determine the best deal / bargain according to your budget and profile.

Here are some of the questions you may have had to ask during the role play:

"to be written by Florian"

Here are some possible answers from the tourists:

"to be written by Florian"

HW: for next time, the tourists need to be able to speak about their itinerary / route and visits to the class; why they have chosen them and what is the total cost of the journey. Agencies will have to listen carefully to the presentation because they will have to determine their top 5 destinations and create a promotional poster to advertise the journey as a special offer.

Files: You can download all the documents here again:

- the empty map to be filled in

- the ''visits'' cards

- the tokens for the visits

- the scenarios of the tourists

american-travel-pic.JPGHey,

today we first corrected your oral comprehension test and then we did a quick brainstorming about holidays and travelling in general. Here are the important categories and elements that you defined:

"to be written by Florian"

HW: for next time, you need to determine in the category "activities", which element is your favorite one and explain why (ex: Activities -> "I prefer staying out at night because... but I also like sunbathing because...") = 1 min presentation.

Hey,

today you first took a vocabulary test about words in possible reading comprehension assignment. For those who will get less than the average, you will need to copy all the words 10 times so that you try to remember them!

Then we continued the lesson with the listening comprehension part of your test.

Finally, I had you watch the video extract from the Harry Potter movie corresponding to the text we had studied. You had to spot the differences and similarities between the text and the movie.

You can watch the extract again below and react thanks to the comment section of this post:

http://rlv.zcache.com/girl_wizard_witch_and_her_enchanted_wand_stickers-p217994375617803777qjcl_400.jpg

Hey,

today we first talked a little bit about Harry Potter and the story as a warm up. Here is what we said:

Harry Potter (the story - basics and opinion)

- famous character

Who ->
- a character from a novel
-He is a student / a wizard.

Syn. for "wizard" (male and female):

"to be written by Morgane"

Where -> Hogwarth (school)

When -> He is been at Hogwarth since his childhood / The action takes place nowadays in a fantasy world.

What -> It is about a wizard child who has powers and is destined to save the world.

Opinion poll:

On average, there are more pupils who don't like Harry Potter than pupils who do in the class.

-> it's too far from reality; when I read, I don't like dreaming.

Grammar: HOW TO = "savoir faire" - Harry Potter learns how to... / He knows how to...

- ... control magic
- ... cast a spell
- ... fly on a broom
- ... catch the ball of quidditch
- ... make potions

Then we continued speaking about the text and we answered some of the questions from your worksheet and we translated all the words in bold letters. Here are the answers and the translations:

"to be written by Morgane"

HW: learn the meaning and translation for the words in bold letters in the entire sheet + get prepared for your oral comprehension test about mobile phones.

http://www.dazeland.com/images/Harry_Potter.jpgHey,

today you first took your irregular verbs test and after a recap of what we had said last time, we continued the lesson with a new very short text. Here is what we said about it:

- The text is an extract from Harry Potter.

- It's about / It deals with Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall who are walking and talking together in the street. They are talking about Harry Potter and his new family (his aunt, his uncle and his cousin). The scene probably takes place at night or in the end of the afternoon.

Methodology:

Who -> characters
Where -> place
When -> time
What -> events
How -> feelings

HW: for next time, finish completing exercise #1 from your worksheet + for after the vacation, you will need to have learnt all the irregular verbs and classify them into 2 charts (1- according to their different forms; 2- according to their meanings into several lexical fields).

Files: you can download the worksheet here again. (yet to be uploaded)

http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/6a57950254f314e2_landingHey,

today we first talked about the document again but you had a lot of troubles performing a good recap... So we had to listen to the document again so that you could remember more things... Here is what we said in the lesson:

The document is about the success of Harry Potter. It has been a craze since 1997, when the book was 1st published.
More than 135 million copies have been sold and it has been translated in 48 languages. It's the biggest publishing success the world has ever seen. It's as popular and famous as the Bible. Every 30 seconds, someone somewhere in the world begins a Harry story. In the future, maybe there will be a Harry Potter Day. For J.K Rowling, it's a dream come true. She can't believe it.

Then we continued talking about grammar. Here is what we said:

2 hundred
15 thousand
25 million
136 billion
237 trillion

But -> Hundreds of / Thousands of / Millions of ...

HW: for next time, you need to prepare the role play and answer the questions about vocabulary at the end of your worksheet.

Files: download the worksheet here again.
